It was one of the most compelling and moving recreations the students of Mehlville have ever seen. Their own peers being taken in a police car, an ambulance, and even a hearse, after being involved in a horrific accident that was caused by activities some teens have done in the past.  Mehlville’s first bi-annual mock crash was held on Thursday April 26th, 2012 during TAP and it looked to address the issues of texting while driving, drinking and driving, and driving without a seatbelt. School SRO Charlie Rodriguez spent countless hours planning every aspect of the crash along with his filmmakers, student helpers, and the help of first responders coming from Mehlville. The event was a success, drawing many positive reactions from adults and students alike. The powerful meaning of seeing ones own friends in such a tragic accident is what Officer Rodriguez believes will make kids put the phone away, buckle up, and stay sober. We at MehlvilleMedia created the videos displayed at the event as well as photographed and recorded it. The media from the Mock Crash is available on the “2012 Mock Crash” page located at the top of the website. On the page, you can view photos from the event, view the short- film that was shown prior to the mock crash, and submit your own content that you may have captured at Thursday’s assembly.
