Earlier this week Connor Besancenez earned one of the highest honors  you can receive in high school sports: he was named first team all-conference.

     Besancenez plays left offensive tackle and defensive tackle for the Panthers’ football team. He was named to the all-conference team for offense. Besancenez credits a lot of his success to his hard work in the offseason.

     “During the summer is was up here four times a week training with the team,” said Besancenez, “I did a lot more conditioning than usual and a lot more intense weight training.”

     Coach Kent Heinemann enjoys having a lineman like Besancenez on his team because of the confidence he brings to the offense.

     “Having a lineman like Connor allows you to be confident on offense,” said Heinemann, “He is very agile and he is technically a very good lineman.”

      To go along with earning all-conference, Besancenez is also enjoying the fact that the team has very much improved from last season.

     “Having an improved season is great,” said Besancenez, “We deserved this season because we came together as a team. We worked hard last year but this year felt better because it all seemed to have come together a lot more.”

     Besancenez does not plan on ending his football career in high school. He has a few colleges looking at him but says that at this point it is a toss up where he will wind up going.
