Avengers: Age of Ultron Review

avengersWalking in to see Avengers: Age of Ultron, I had very high hopes. Not only was the first movie excellent, but Marvel had made amazing movies since then.

The movie is centered around the Avengers trying to stop an advanced robot from killing everyone on Earth to make it “a better place”. Obviously, the superheros did not like that plan very much.

I was a little afraid going into the theatre that since the first movie was so good, there was no way that the second could be any better.

I am glad to say that I was not disappointed.

The movie was definitely darker than the first movie, but what can you expect if a super strong robot is trying to destroy the world.

My favorite things are the newcomers, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff (played by Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, respectively). Their characters added a lot to the old Avengers, even though they were kind of working against them a good majority of the time. They truly wanted to help the world, even though they were forced to do horrible things to stay alive.

One thing I found lacking was the absence of other characters who had been in previous movies (Pepper Potts, anyone?)

As usual, the humor is a little cheesy(as it is in any Marvel movie), but I personally believe that some of the “dad joke humor” adds to the story, and relieves some of the tension from the serious plot.

Overall, I really enjoyed Avengers: Age of Ultron. I thought that the plot was good, if not a little more serious than I was expecting, and the majority of the things I was confused about were just tiny issues, like the missing characters. If you are on the fence about seeing the new Avengers movie, I would absolutely recommend going to see it.
