On July 15, 2016, a Netflix-original TV show called Stranger Things made its way to the popular streaming service. Since then, people haven’t stopped talking about this flash from the past. The quick outbreak and publicity of this show have brought in countless viewers, and nothing is “strange” about the success of this show.

The success of Stranger Things could come from many different things. For one, the adored cast, mainly the youngsters that are arguably the stars of the entire show. Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Noah Schnapp (Will), and especially Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) have become loved by millions due to this show, and have even gained their own fan-base. This band of misfit kids have gotten into everybody’s hearts due to their chemistry and charisma both on and off screen. Another well known actress that contributes to the success of this show is Winona Ryder, who also starred in the 80s classic Heathers. The entire cast of characters really propel the story and keep viewers watching, episode after episode.

Another element that really made watchers enjoy the show is the nostalgia. This show transports viewers back to the 80s with songs, visuals, and throwbacks to old 80s films like E.T. and It. If you pay attention, you’ll see scenes that resemble these two classics as well as many others. Anyone who was raised in the 80s, or even just enjoys the time period, will appreciate all of these beautiful reminders.

And finally, the show never ceases to keep viewers intrigued. If you’ve never experienced the need to binge-watch a show, then Stranger Things will surely be your first. Netflix original series tend to do well due to the vast amount of Netflix-users and genuinely good storytelling. Every episode packs a twist, scare, or edge-of-the-seat action. Many celebrities have posted on social media about their love for this show, including Pete Wentz from the band Fall Out Boy and actor Zac Efron.

This show deserves an A, falling just short of an A+ due to it only being eight episodes and fans having to wait a year just for nine more.
