    Mehlville basketball took on Parkway North in their first home game last Thursday. Lead by Ryan Posgay, senior Lindenwood Basketball commit, has averaged a team leading 13.5 points per game and 2 assists per game. This game was primed to be a close game with Mehlville was averaging 48.5 points per game and Parkway North averaged 49.5 points per game.

    In the first quarter both teams came out strong defensively only allowing each other to score a combined 30 points at the end of the quarter. Into the second quarter Mehlville was held to just 7 points in the quarter which was tied for their second lowest of the season, but Mehlville was still only down by 7 going into the locker room at half. Mehlville came out of the half strong scoring 15 points and only allowing 9 closing the Viking’s lead to 1. During the fourth quarter Mehlville and Parkway North was close going into the final minutes, but the Vikings went on a scoring run and forced Mehlville to foul at the end of the game and losing with a final score of 62-53. A huge part of the game was Mehlville struggled at the charity stripe by shooting 36%.

    “We could have improved on a lot of things such as rebounds, limiting turnovers, and free throws” said junior guard Freddy Judson.

    Mehlville showed great promise with the win scoring 10 over their average and shot over 40% from three point land. For the remainder of the season Mehlville feels very optimistic.

    “Although our record doesn’t show it our team is improving with every game and every practice.” said junior forward Colin Sides.

    Mehlville’s next home game is December 20th when they take on Windsor
