     Individualism.

That is what senior, Robert Sieckhaus loves most about tennis, and believes that this is what allows him to thrive on the court.

Sieckhaus has played tennis his whole life and has been number one on the team for his junior and senior seasons. The fact that tennis is individual is what Sieckhaus enjoys most.

“I get to focus on myself and not have to worry about anyone,” said Sieckhaus.

Sieckhaus hopes that his success from last year will carry over to this season. Last year Sieckhaus made it into the second round of district play and came in first in conference play.

Leadership is very important to Sieckhaus and he is always trying to help the less experienced players on the squad get better. He is even described as a “father figure” to the younger players by Coach Biesiadecki.

“At many points during practice Robert will keep the intensity level light and keep the pressure off the younger players,” said Biesiadecki, “he also has some caring features that a senior has as opposed to a freshman.”

Sieckhaus is not a player who just leads by example either.

“This is my first year playing tennis and Rob has really helped me a lot,” said junior, Jake Johnson, “He helped me learn how to count scores, he has helped me a lot with my hits, and he has taught me how to really keep my composure while playing.”

This season is looking bright for Sieckhaus who already has a win against Parkway South. He believes that with the experience he already has from being a number one, he can really make this season count.
