Crafting Community Through Knitting
Of the many extracurricular and social activities offered at Mehlville High School, by far one of the most niche is the Knitting Club. Despite having started just last year, the club has already had around 80 participants.
This year, the club is smaller, and structured, including lessons for those who want to knit, but don’t know how.
“We want everyone to be able to come, so you don’t have to know how to knit at all,” explains co-sponsor Ariane Vagen. “We have needles, and we have yarn.”
Along with the structure comes a mission. The club looks to make winters a little warmer, and lives a little brighter by donating their creations to local charities.
If knitting is a hobby of yours, or you want to learn but don’t know where to start, join the knitting club and make beautiful creations that will warm the heart of someone who needs them.
