With the new school year in progress, the Gay- Straight Alliance is ready to get started. The new presidents include, Jordan Rose, senior, Nikki Drexl, senior, and Taylor Loud, senior. The three are hoping to get a lot of things accomplished within the club this school year. The trio hopes to get GSA sponsored by the school this year . “Last year we had a lot of trouble getting things done, but we hope to work things out this year,” said Loud. GSA has many projects in mind for the year. To start, they would like to have a float in the homecoming parade. According to Loud, they would most likely share with the Art float, constructed with Jessica Riddle, art teacher. “We have a big variety of kids who are a big part of both Art Club and GSA so, I suggested we share a float, but of course we have to wait to talk with the office,” said Riddle. Another major project GSA hopes to accomplish this school year is to make a movie for a YouTube organization called “It Gets Better.” The video will be a documentary stating that things do get better and how to deal with problems. “It’s basically an organization that makes videos of gays and bisexuals, and them expressing how things were for them, and how eventually things do get better,” said Loud. The club is has many ideas for the new school year. If you would like to know more, the sponsors are Bill Ebert, psychology teacher and Kristen Dodd, Social Studies Department Chair. There will also be a table at the club fair on Thursday, August 30.
