Lawrence Jones is a Junior who has been playing football for six years and coaching for three months. He had said that his favorite part about coaching is helping the little kids, especially when they don’t know what they’re doing, it makes him feel good knowing he’s helping other kids accomplish the same dreams he has.
I then asked him “what do you teach as a coach.” He said that he teaches the wide receivers, and teaches them everything they teach him in high school. He also mentioned that a way that he stays motivated when the season ins’t going as planned is that he keeps his head up and made sure everyone on the team is in a good stable condition before the next game. His favorite part of the season has to be the pregame, locker rooms and the loud music that’s blasting, everyone’s just in the mood.
His goal for the season was to accomplish things they couldn’t last year and to win at least one game, however that goal has been met, so far the Mehlville school has a two win streak ending the 709 days of losing! The upcoming game Mehlville vs. Oakville will be on October 11 2024. Lawrence is looking for the win. He feels confident about taking the win since him and his team have been working very hard and building as a team every week.
