Christmas is upon us, and it’s coming quickly! I had the chance to go around and ask students and staff questions regarding these festive times.
Like myself, festive foods are always a requirement during the holidays and I got to ask people about their favorite holiday foods and what they like to cook up.
Roy Clemens, cafeteria manager and the heart of Mehlville, was asked what he likes to cook up for Christmas.
“Goose! I hate them, there big and aggressive so I like to eat them,” Clemens said.
For sophomore Jason Taylor, it is “Deviled Eggs!”
Officer Jacobsmeyer, the SRO (School Resource Officer) said for him it, “Definitely has to be Ham and Pineapple.”
While festive foods are a highlight to many there are other activates people like to do, like going to see Christmas lights. I asked staff members where their favorite place to see Christmas lights are.
Like myself, I like to keep things casual. Assistant Principal Katie Hardrick can also agree.
“I like driving around my neighborhood seeing the effort people put into decorating their houses, it really shows the Christmas spirit,” Hardrick said.
Mehlville’s Secretaries Jackie Cordes, Christina Raney and Bev Shannon and Mehlville’s Librarian Sandy Henthorn all agree that the number one spot to see lights is at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison Illinois.
“Being able to drive around the track itself is already amazing, but seeing all of the lights and effort the employees put into making it an enjoyable experience is always the best part,” Cordes said.
Counseling administrative assistant Debbie Auer and Registrar Kim Baum agreed that Candy Cane Lane on the 6500 block of Murdoch Avenue is a unique place to take the family to enjoy Christmas lights, listen to festive tunes, and also walk around the block to Ted Drews to enjoy a custard and even some hot chocolate.
While, there are many places to see Christmas lights, these are some of the best recommendations for around the St. Louis area.
