Mehlville’s small but mighty swim team, consisting of sophomore captain Logan Brotherton and two freshmen, Sebastian Vaughn and Liam Theiss, and coached by Mark Hromnak, is making a splash in the start of their season.
With being such a small team getting into more challenging meets is a struggle that is hard to counter. The swimmer shared that coming out with a team win is more difficult due to the fact they are limited to the amounts of events they are able participate in.
Although being undersized Hromnack and his team still have the bar set high for personal and team goals.
Brotherton says he is pushing to reach at least state consideration for the 50-meter freestyle. Theiss hopes for he and his team to reach the podium for each event they compete in.
In a recent meet against Hazelwood Central and Steam Academy, Brotherton received two first places in the 100-meter freestyle and 100-meter breaststroke. Vaughn placed first in the 500-meter freestyle and third in the 200-meter freestyle. Theiss placed first in the 100-meter backstroke and third in the 50-meter freestyle.
