Senior Executives and Green Pit Leaders are hoping that Mehlville is all in this together for spirit week this year. The theme of Homecoming is the popular 2000’s movie High School Musical and the theme for every day of the spirit week plays into the main theme.
This year Mehlville is doing something a little different with the HOCO shirt. In previous years, the HOCO shirts were different colors for every class, but this year they are all the same color.
“We decided to make them all the same color because this year’s theme is high school musical and we wanted to represent that we are all in this together,” said Aurora Bartnick, senior executive. Making all the shirts the same color this year represents the idea that all students are in this together which is a common theme in the High School Musical.
The theme of the High School Musical movie has more meaning than others think. “We picked a high school musical because we felt that it was a big part of people’s childhoods, and it really tied well with our theme of 100 years of Mehlville,” Bartnick said.
The groups based every day’s theme off the movie.
Senior executive member, Gavin Kienbusch said, “all the theme ideas are inspired by high school musical, we kind of had a vote on which general thing we want and then we took themes from that.”
Green Pit Leaders want to make sure the whole school participates in spirit week and the Homecoming game.
Green Pit Leader, Delaney Pratt wants everyone to show up dressed up in school colors.
“We want students to wear all their green and white to represent Mehlville and represent our team.”
Mehlville wants you to wear the themes to represent the High School Musical theme all week. Monday students wear their HOCO shirt or any Mehlville gear, Tuesday they wear a favorite jersey, Wednesday they wear pink attire, Thursday is Beach vs. Golf, and Friday wear black, green and white to represent Mehlville.
