A chilly spring evening, walking down The Boulevard in Richmond Heights, I spotted a small bakery near PF Chang’s I had not noticed before. The name “Nadoz” adorned the front façade and it beamed a welcoming place that was worth treating my empty, groaning stomach to. I decided to walk in, welcomed by the bright lighting and Mediterranean style fixtures and decorations. It smelled of fresh-pressed espresso-which I had been expecting-and lingering right above that was a slight note of curry, something that took me by surprise. A European themed
bakery with spicy, Asian smells. I inquired the very bubbly employee at the counter as to what the smell was and if it contained any pork products. As soon as she replied and told me no, I let her take my order for a Bombay Panini, which she explained contained a curry sauce. She also added that it came with a side of Southwestern Salad, so I took it in stride, asked for a blueberry banana smoothie and took my seat and number to a nice wooden table. It was surprisingly comfortable and the food arrived promptly, but I did have a little time to look around the cozy cafe. The people inside seemed like regulars and it was a mellow atmosphere in general. I was growing to like the place. I liked it even more when the food came. The Bombay Panini was a perfect mix of chicken, cheese, and spicy goodness. It arrived in a Naan bread styled very similar to it’s Persian roots. The flatbread was very fresh and soft and gave the focus to the chicken inside rather than being overpowering. Definitely a plus in my book. The blueberry banana smoothie was also to die for, having the right mix of both fruits. Everything tasted fresh too. I almost felt like I was eating market-fresh food in a cafe in Europe. When I finished, I still had a little room, so I requested a Nutella crêpe to top it all off. It arrived in traditional European style and it solidified Nadoz as a place I will visit again.
