Leaves have fallen and warm weather wear is being brought back out. Turkeys only wish they could fly. And grocery stores are dedicating a section for the bird of the season. Thanksgiving, November 28, is just around the corner. Below are a few tips to help you in surviving Turkey Day:
1. Be Nice to the ‘Rents.
Thanksgiving can become a stressful holiday for those in charge and those who must live up to the high expectations preconceived in the minds of parents to impress and avoid harsh judgement of Aunt Cathy or Cousin Ben. So to help relieve some of that pressure, ask how you can help! A helping hand can be an adult’s dream that you can help make come true.
2. Dress Comfortably.
Who are you trying to impress with those six inch stilettos, Grandpa Joe? Your family loves you unconditionally and for your true beauty. So don’t shy away from those stretchy pants that will allow your stomach to expand and make room for that sweet pumpkin pie.
3. Don’t Fear the Second Helpings.
There are 364 other days of the year that you can count each calorie consumed. But praise those pilgrims for granting you the right to eat without a care. The more food left over the more insult it is to the chef, so eat up!
4. Have Some Turkey Day Fun!
Tis the Turkey day season to watch and play the sport of football. Also turn on the television to watch the traditional Macy’s Day Parade. Not into football or parades? Blossom into that social butterfly and talk amongst those family members you don’t necessarily get to see on a daily basis.
5. Be Thankful.
Thankful on Thanksgiving? No way. It’s all in the name! This day is a day to reflect all the great things you have been blessed with. At the very least you have the day off of school and get to sleep in. But try to take a minute out of your day and think about all the things you have to be thankful for no matter how small and it doesn’t necessarily have to be material items.
