A warm, well-lit atmosphere welcomes in any student or passerby trudging down Laclede Street near Saint Louis University. An escape from the cold or a simple quick bite to eat does not lead to disappointment. Pickleman’s Gourmet Café offers a wide selection of café food ranging from toasted sandwiches to salads and even pizza. Located conveniently on SLU’s campus, Pickleman’s is in an easily accessible location, within walking distance of most everything on campus. Pickleman’s also has multiple locations scattered throughout Missouri and they are quickly expanding through other states. Based on the quality of their food, it is no surprise. Pickleman’s Buffalo Chicken sandwich was my choice for this cold afternoon before a SLU basketball game. It warmed the taste buds up quite well, offering a satisfying kick of Buffalo flavor. The provolone cheese was exquisitely melted and the all-natural chicken strips made the entire sandwich delectable. Paired with a strawberry lemonade and bag of all-natural chips, the meal was certainly top notch. With the location being great, the food being excellent, and the café carrying a pleasant vibe, Pickleman’s is sure to be a restaurant I return to.
