Looking at the signs in the hallway might be difficult for someone to understand, with the simple words “The Attic” probably causing confusion to some underclassmen who see it. Especially when they think it is a secret club or some form of an actual attic that resides above the school, like many people seem to think in their first few years of school.

The Attic, however, is not a room, or a ominous club. It is actually a literary magazine, which is made by a group of students at our school, who handle all of the layout and publishing of the magazine.
“We compile a bunch of work that students give us: stories, short stories, poems, pictures, [and] art,” said John Revilla, junior.
These members of The Attic produce the magazine all on their own, which is then available later on in the spring free of charge for students to read, but they are looking for help. With the amount of submissions coming in,and the quality of the submissions that are being turned in,it looks like there may not be enough stories to publish the magazine in time for the targeted date in May.
“It’s still a growing club and it’s not that popular yet, so we’re basically just helping each other out with everything,” said Revilla. “Mainly right now we are looking for submissions.”
The Attic can also allow people around the school to read your stories or look at your pictures, which allows for a wider audience to read and critique your work.
If you are interested in submitting a story or piece of art to the attic, or if you want to help out with the production of the magazine itself, contact Mark Gulath in room 314 for more information.
