Seems lately the ice breaker of people’s conversation has to do with a new addition to the list of Disney classics, Frozen. This movie is a heart-warming tale of two sisters Elsa and Anna who both face many obstacles. From the beginning we learn Elsa has a magical power where she can spontaneously create ice and snow from her fingertips; unfortunately, controlling her powers is not an option, so she wears gloves to contain them. Once the best of friends, Elsa and Anna seemingly inseparable had played all the time. One day she accidentally hurts her sister and closes herself off from the world in order to protect her sister. Eventually the kingdom learns of her freezing abilities and Elsa is mortified and runs off to the mountains after making the kingdom of Arendale stuck in an eternal snow storm, where she does not have to hide who she really is. Will Arendale be snowed in forever? What will happen to Anna and Elsa?
This Disney movie is unlike most because instead of the main focus being on love between a girl and a boy, it focuses more on the love and bond sisters share. It was nice to see a different take on the whole love story plot.
Either people love this movie or hate it; and I am siding with those who love it. This movie was an emotional roller coaster. From being happy to anxious to upset, this movie had it all. And just when I thought the plot seemed to be over, something else unexpectedly would happen. All the songs Kristen Bell (the voice of Anna) and Idina Menzel (the voice of Elsa) sang were flawless and easily got stuck in my head. Another great factor in this movie is the iconic, talking snowman Olaf. Olaf would say the most random things and definitely added a spark of humor to the movie.
As a girl I am probably more naturally drawn to the whole princess scene, but I would recommend this movie to just about anyone. Frozen teaches us we must accept ourselves, no matter how different we are, even if we have magical freezing powers and that is a lesson for everyone. Disney definitely did another great job producing a movie that will be seen and loved for generations.
