Since I am a senior, and I will be graduating in less than three months, I felt that I needed to share the wisdom that I gained in high school. There are things that I wish I would have done, and things that I did do. Because of the memories that I have made from these events, I thought it was fitting to list the five things you need to do before you leave high school.
First, go to a sporting event. Football and basketball would be my top picks to attend. Even if you hate sports, like I do, I would still recommend sitting in the green pit or going to the Silent Night game for basketball. It is such a fun experience being surrounded by your friends with all the cheering and feeling of being united.
Second, join a club. Even if you only attend one meeting and hate it. You will feel so much better as a senior knowing that you at least tried to join a club. Even better, if you end up liking the club, you could make a lot of new friends that you would not have met regularly.

Third, take a weird class. I never really got the opportunity to do this until this year, because I was really focused on taking all the AP classes I could. This year I decided to take some classes that I thought were interesting, and that I probably would not take in college. They turned out to be really fun classes where I made a lot of new friends, even though senior year is a little late for that.
Fourth, ugly Christmas sweater Fridays in December. I am not one to participate in any sort of spirit week, and in some instances I do the exact opposite of what I am supposed to do, but ugly Christmas sweater Fridays was the highlight of my Decembers. Even though you are wearing a hideous sweater that jingles when you walk, it is funny because other people are in the same boat. Plus, it gives you something to look forward to each week leading up to Winter Break.
Last, go to a dance. You do not have to go to all of them, but it is a really great experience. Even if you are bored out of your mind, at least you went. Freshman and sophomore year my parents forced me to go to Homecoming and the Winter Formal, even if I did not want to, simply because they knew that I might regret it later on.
High school may seem like a waste of time while you are here, it may even seem like a waste of time after you graduate, but doing these things could change the way you view your high school experience. I know that many of these things have changed mine.
