A new app called “Plant Nanny” is encouraging people everywhere to drink more water. The app takes your basic information and then gives you the amount of water you should be drinking daily. With every bottle or glass of water you drink, you get to water a virtual plant and watch it grow through different levels. In order to keep your plant alive, you have to continue to drink water throughout the day.
Plant Nanny goes off of the idea that water occupies 70% of our body weight. The app sends notifications to your phone when you have not had a drink in a while and reminds you to keep your body hydrated throughout the day.
However, there is such a thing as too much water. The app will also send you alerts when you log an abundant much water within a short period of time. It warns you that drinking an over excessive amount of water is unhealthy.
The amount of water that individuals should drink varies from person to person. That amount is dependent on how much physical activity an individual partakes in and also their weight.
A marathon runner for example would need a larger consumption of water that someone who’s only form of physical activity is using their thumb to change the channel.
According to DailyMail.com, the average person should drink around 2 liters a day of water. There are many benefits to keeping yourself hydrated. In order for you to drink too much water, this would be a result of drinking many more liters not cup fulls. With that being said, Plant Nanny can be a fun way to remind yourself throughout the day to stay hydrated.
