We all have heard about how well the MHS band does. Over announcements, during games, and playing loudly as you walk down the hallway. The MHS band works its hardest to assure the best music possible. Mehlville senior Nate Henson started playing drums when he was only in 6th grade. After practicing year round for about 6 years, Nate still continues to learn and play.
A lot of people say that the percussion section is indeed the most important but, Henson says otherwise.
“I think all sections are of equal importance. Without all of them, it just sounds incomplete,” said Henson.
The amount of time band students put in is outstanding. Unlike math or science, you can’t just look at an instrument and learn how to play it. Practice makes perfect.
“ You can never practice enough. I spend at least 28 hours a week, and sometimes I practice all day,” said Henson.
The amount of time it takes to become “good” varies from person to person.
“Practicing every night can help you gain the road to success,” said Henson.
We all know that practice makes perfect, but Henson definitely goes above and beyond.
