At the beginning of the year, STUCO decorated the school for the first day back with posters and balloons. They also made the welcome-back t-shirts that Konnect and STUCO wore on the first day.
Throughout the year, STUCO wants to organize the winter dance, have another dodgeball tournament, a Mr. Mehlville pageant, a polar plunge, blood drives, and organize some of the spirit weeks. They plan to bring back events from previous years and come up with new ones too.
“We work hard and have fun. We want to make school as enjoyable as possible for everyone,” says sponsor, Kerrie Kern.
Kern recommends that people should join for the social aspect and to be able to help make impactful decisions for the school. STUCO’s main goal is to allow representation in all grades.
Every year, there is an email sent out in the spring to sophomores, juniors, and seniors to sign up. Freshmen can apply at the beginning of the school year and get approval from teachers. Candidates will be voted on for both freshman and upperclassmen running for STUCO.
