Here at Mehlville, we have a teacher taking over the Boy’s Varsity Head Coach position. Megan San Filippo is a new teacher at Mehlville High School. San Filippo is a Girl’s Strength and Conditioning and a Health teacher. San Filippo helped out our Girl’s varsity, and now is our Boy’s Varsity head coach. I asked San Filippo some questions.
San Filippo said, “My goal is to get everyone together as a team and perform well as a team. Also, set a culture because Mehlville has had a bad turnover of coaches for volleyball.” She wants to help everyone get together and better sportsmanship within the program.
San Filippo also said, “I’m a little nervous, with coaching. You have to figure out players and when switching teams also can bring some serves.” This is Meg’s first year here at Mehlville and her first year coaching volleyball here. She is nervous and wants our team to succeed this season.
“I am excited to be a head coach. I’ve always been an assistant coach. But I have never had this opportunity to have this kind of head coach position.” San Filipio said. She has been in California and Saint Louis as an assistant and this is her first ever head position and she is thrilled to get started.
