Today is December 12, 2012, making it 12/12/12. Having a consecutive date will not happen again until January 1, 3001. To commemorate this historic day, here are twelve things to remember about this year.

1. London Summer Olympics; The United States received a total of 104 medals.

2.Rover Curiosity lands on Mars successfully; Sent to Mars through NASA for scientific reasons and new discoveries.

3. President Barack Obama is re-elected.

4. 12 people are killed, 59 injured in the shooting at the opening night of Dark Knight in Aurora, Colorado.

5. Conflict between Israel and Gaza; causes lots of problems for its people. Economic issues, violence, and crime are a few of the problems the people are faced with.

6. Hurricane Sandy; Making landfall in New Jersey and New York, forcing the Stock Market to close. Created devastating damage to the east coast.

7. Apple announces its newest Iphone, the Iphone 5.

8. NHL Lockout; Hockey games cancelled until further notice.

9. President Vladimir Putin re-elected for his third six-year term in Russia.

10. Cruise ship tips over in Italy; captain fled ship, leaving staff and passengers to fend for themselves.

11. Windows 8 is introduced.

12. Gangam Style becomes the most viewed Youtube video, with over 808 million views.
