“You are adored by many,” said anonymous.

This is just one of the many tweets that can be found on the Twitter page @MHSlovesyou, or better known as MHS Compliments.

The twitter page started up the week of finals first semester. Now you’re probably wondering who has time to sit on twitter complimenting so many people AND study for all their finals?

    MHS Compliments obviously did.

@MHSlovesyou is not the only twitter page out there that compliments students around the country. I found that many other schools have similar pages. When searching for MHS compliments, multiple suggestions from other schools in the country pop up. Scrolling through the pages, it is easy to see the purpose of it; anonymously compliment the student body.

   But why?

Why would someone want to take time out of their day to say something nice, and not get recognized for it? For a while I wondered why someone would do something like that when they could be doing just about anything else.

    Then it hit me.

There are not enough nice people in the world, and MHS Compliments seemed to realize that and wanted to do something about it. The idea of MHS Compliments was perfect. It gave people a chance to forget about how mean people could be, especially during finals week when everyone had plenty of other things to worry about.

MHS Compliments was not only able to lighten the mood but also bring about a positive look at what teenagers do online. When the news and media are so focused on online bullying, it is nice to see someone taking a different approach to social media and using it for positive reasons to show the world that all teenagers aren’t bullies with nothing nice to say.

While we may never know the real purpose behind the twitter page, it definitely helped put a smile on people’s face. MHS Compliments was able to make a lot of people smile using less than 140 characters online, only proving that little things can go a long way sometimes.

I know that I am not alone when saying thanks to the anonymous MHS Compliments.
