As the year is wrapping up, senior students have a few things on their mind. The most common on: college.

    College is a super fun and exciting time. It’s a whole new experience and a time to learn new things and meet new people. Another thing seniors are thinking about is college tuition. Just saying those words hurts, right?

   For 11 senior girls, tuition isn’t going to be as painful.

   Thanks to the College Club of St. Louis these girls will receive scholarships to the school of their choice.

    To get the scholarship the girls had to fill out an application that asked about service hours, family life, school, and extracurriculars. Along with the application, they needed three letters of recommendation from a teacher and two outside sources. Once all that was sent in, they were required to attend an interview.

   “The interview was laid back. They asked about family a lot and they had me go in-depth about things I wrote down on the application, like my passion for photography,” said Emily Young, senior recipient.

    Young plans on continuing her photography by pursuing photojournalism at Mizzou.

    Ashley Engel, senior agreed with Young about the interview and process.

    “It was my third scholarship of the week, so I was pretty prepared,” said Engel.

    She also admits that the process was simple and she was confident with her actions.

    “I was a little anxious waiting to hear back, but I wasn’t worried,” said Engel.

    Engel plans on going to Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas to double major in education and Evangelization and catechesis.

    Young and Engel were not the only ones to receive the scholarship. Courtney Coonrod, Alyssa Graycochea, Kaitlyn Krejci, Julie Meyer, Irene Nguyen, Krista Tock, Julianne Wallinger, Emily Weber and Sarah Willoughby also received the scholarship.

    There is an upcoming Luncheon on April 22 where the girls will receive the awards and amounts of their scholarships.
