Every year hundreds of people participate in events to help the planet on Earth day. Emmilee Sinclair, junior took it to another level.

Sinclair is a part of the science club. This year she came up with the idea to create a video to show in TAP about respecting the quad and the outdoors in general.

“The original idea was to do a series of skits on “respect the quad” with the theme from the Capri Sun “respect the pouch” commercials, but it turned into a respect the environment/ respect the earth video,” said Sinclair.

Sinclair headed the project on her own after some people got busy with other assignments. She didn’t get much help for preparing the video.

“I’ve gone back on some of my commitments, so who am I to bite someone else’s head off about it,” said Sinclair.

Since she had to do it herself, she found make-up tips from a friend online, and had her mom film it for her. She also found resources in the school library to create a monologue for the video.

Sinclair painted her face to make it look like the earth and filmed herself with the monologue she created from the resources she found thanks to the librarians.

After filming, Sinclair had to edit the video for presentation.

“I have a teensy bit of knowledge about editing videos, but not much. Other people were willing to help, but after some confusion I decided it’d just be better for me to do it,” said Sinclair.
