Black Thursday?

It seems like every year Black Friday, or should I say Thursday, is having stores open earlier and earlier. I work for a retailer and my store opens up at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving. I won’t even be able to celebrate the holiday with my family because of crazy bargain shoppers.

If it wasn’t for these crazy shoppers, there wouldn’t even be a need to open up on Thanksgiving, but because every other store is open, that causes us to do the same. What happened to waiting till midnight or 4 a.m. on Black Friday? Friday is in the unofficial title after all.

Opening on Thanksgiving causes families to cut their dinner short just to go shopping. I understand if a store is selling a 50 inch TV for $50, that’s something to wait in line for. However, pushing people down, fighting and screaming over clothing that is only 50% off is ridiculous. Clothing retailers have sales all the time, so a sale like this isn’t that big of a deal.

There will be deals all the way to Dec. 24, and the deals will not go away within just a few days. I’m sure you can enjoy a delicious meal with your family before you go out and fight over stupid Christmas presents.

Not only are you cutting your Thanksgiving short, you’re also causing the workers to leave their family to deal with you crazies. Not to mention the long overnight hours, only to come back the next day and do the same thing for the rest of the weekend. The customers get to go home and sleep off their night.

If schools get off for Thanksgiving afterall, I’m sure you can wait just a few more hours till the Friday after Thanksgiving to do you’re shopping. If anything, go online and order presents online. You don’t have to deal with all the people and you can still get really good deals. Is it so hard to have stores just wait a few more hours to open up their doors?
