Over the next year, junior, Rhiannon Creighton will be preparing for an opportunity of a lifetime.

In Jan. of 2016, Creighton received news that she landed the lead role in Missouri’s All-State show while competing at Thescon, the state Thespian Conference.

The All-State show is put together by directors and students from the state of Missouri while students that are actors and technicians go to audition or interview in hopes of landing a part or role.

Creighton mentions that she auditioned not knowing what specific role she had in mind, and that she simply just wanted to be a part in the All-State show process.

Even though she wasn’t thinking about a big role, the directors and judges knew she had potential to be a perfect fit, and they wanted to see more of her stage acting abilities.

“I definitely did not expect a callback”, said Creighton. “I really didn’t actually see myself getting to be in this show”.

Rhiannon also stated that the people she auditioned with were very talented and intimidating, but she was happy that she got an opportunity to audition with, and against them.

After the judges and directors came to a consensus, Creighton was given the lead role of Iphigenia, in the All-State production of Iphigenia.

The story of Iphigenia is a retelling of a Greek myth of Agamemnon, who in order to bring back Helen of Troy, has to sacrifice his daughter, Iphigenia.

Rhiannon will be working for about a year, rehearsing and practicing for  the final show which will be in Jan, of 2017, located in St. Louis at the Renaissance Hotel.

She also states that there will be a summer camp in July that consists of 12 hour rehearsal days.

“Our cast and crew members are constantly contacting each other with information and research we’ve independently found. We’re all just really excited to work with each other,” said Creighton.

With tons of practice and rehearsals on the way, Creighton is excited to work with talented people from all over the state, and hopes to improve her abilities on the stage for bigger and better roles in the future.
