Sabrina Carpenter’s new pop album “Short n’ Sweet” has been topping the charts for weeks now and is becoming more popular, even beginning her own tour for the new album. Her album has twelve tracks, two of which were released as singles before the release of the album.
The first single, titled “Espresso”, is the perfect song for summer. Although it’s been criticized for being overplayed, the song perfectly captures the feeling of a summer day. Her second released single, “Please Please Please”, is arguably better than her first single because the music video portrays how the song was directed at her significant other, begging him not to embarrass her in front of her friends. Sabrina differs from other artists, because she is able to add her personality into her music.
All of the songs on the album have some degree of relatability to the audience, which is one of the reasons why Sabrina has been so successful in her singing career. Another notable song on the album is the sixth song, “Bad Chem”. Sabrina often uses wordplay in her songs, usually giving lyrics a double meaning. “Bad Chem” is no exception. Sabrina’s ability to write clever lyrics elevates her songs, and makes her stand out from other pop artists. Overall, I rate this album three out of five stars. Although I like the music, some of the songs are too alike and get repetitive.
