St. Louis, April 27, 2017 — Joseph Pulitzer said to “Put it before them briefly so they will read it, clearly so they will appreciate it, picturesquely so they will remember it and, above all, accurately so they will be guided by its light.” That is just what Mehlville High School journalism students did this past school year. Their work was noticed and honored by local journalism group, Journalism STL.

The website mehlvillemedia.com features work from both newspaper and broadcast staffs. Journalism STL awarded the site with a superior rating, the highest honor attainable to high school media staffs in the Greater-St. Louis area. Only four high schools received this honor. Junior Priyanka Chaudhary serves as the webmaster. The Student Prints newspaper under the leadership of senior editors Anthony Garcia and Sabina Schaaf also received an honorable mention in the overall newspaper category.

Other accolades include individual awards for many student journalists. Senior broadcast producer Bryana Tate earned a superior rating for her football promo video. Tate also received an excellent rating for the new segment The Mehlville Minute along with Leah Rojo (12) and Miranda Shelton (12). Taylor Durham won an excellent rating for in the broadcast features category and an honorable mention in the broadcast news category.
