With their wins over Nixa and Seckman and now Oakville to win the district finals, our boys volleyball team has qualified for the state championships.
Mehlville has received its first chance to win state in several years, making this opportunity even more meaningful than it already was to the team and the community.
When asked about his opinion on the fact Mehlville is going to state, Junior Jayden Nguyen had this to say.
“I feel like it’s a really big milestone for the school. It’s Mehlvilles first time going to state in about 5 years, so it’s something we haven’t really experienced. I’m excited and I hope we’ll be able to win.”
For Junior Charlie Sease, the journey has been just as important as the destination. When asked about the volleyball program itself, Sease had this to say.
“It’s something special, I wasn’t really expecting anything when I started playing, but the team has come to be a major part of my life. I’m glad I’ve been able to have fun these past few years, going to state is just an added bonus.”
The first match of the state championships is Mehlville at SLUH at 5 P.M. Thursday May 21st. Show your support at the game!
