Students will participate in this year’s Homecoming pep rally on Friday, Sept. 26 on the football field from 1 p.m. to about 2:05 p.m.
Students will be dismissed by intercom and must sit in the stands with their grade level.
The Homecoming pep rally is held to build more excitement for the Homecoming weekend, which includes the parade, game and dance.
Leadership is hosting several games this time, them being “The Human Pinata”, “Masked Panther”, “Water Balloon Pop”, and “Sack Race.”
Junior leadership student Minela Kafedzic shared how the group comes up with their ideas.
“We just search through social media and bring up anything interesting we see at meetings. Also, some people know games already and bring them up from memory,” Minela said.
A Google form was sent out to students to allow them to volunteer to be chosen to participate. Senior Leadership students Arika Thomas and Brianna Leonard created a video showcasing all of the games to be played.
The Human Pinata is a game where five students from each grade level compete to steal candy from other students. The grade level with the most candy throughout their five members wins.
Leadership is also bringing back the Masked Panther this year. Masked Panther is an event where a staff member sings, and the audience attempts to guess who the person under the mask is.
Water Balloon Pop is a race where four students from each grade level attempt to jump onto water balloons and pop them faster than anybody else can.
The Sack Race is a game where a student from each grade level has to weave through obstacles and knock cups over while hopping around in a sack.
Leadership teacher Kristin Busch elaborated on the game selection process.
“We try to think of a few games that would be fun to play, then we vote on what we’d like the games to be. It’s very democratic,” Busch said.
Students are encouraged to show off their school spirit by wearing green, black and white.
Once the pep rally is over, students will be dismissed to the buses.
