Rosanne Bruns, Head Principal at Mehlville high School (MHS) is stepping down from her position.
Students, staff, and families received an email through ParentSquare stating Bruns will be stepping down as Head Principal here at Mehlville High School and transfer to Lindbergh High School, but will continue working at MHS until the end of the 25-26 school year.
“Dear Mehlville High School Families, I am writing to share that, after much reflection, I have decided to step away from my role as principal at the end of this school year.
This was a difficult choice to make. Serving Mehlville High School has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, and I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me. This school is a truly special place because of the dedication of our staff and the incredible spirit of our students and families.
My focus for the remainder of the year is to ensure our school finishes strong and to support a smooth leadership transition. Thank you for your partnership and for the memories we’ve shared.
With sincere appreciation, Roseann Bruns,”
In a recent interview I did with Assistant Principal Brian Metteer, he states it was an unfortunate announcement but is supportive and happy for Bruns.
“I thought it was unfortunate because I think she’s brought a lot of positive things to the school, one of the first things I noticed about her was that she was a true servant leader where I never saw her expect other’s to do thing’s that she wasn’t going to do herself and that’s something that I aspired to be as a leader,”
Metteer explains Bruns’ impact during her time at MHS.
“Obviously it’s a little more difficult in a shorter period of time but I think when you manage 150 staff members and 1,500 kids the best place to see what impact they made is how people felt about her, many staff members came to me and said they were sad to see her leave because she’s a positive person, she’s always interacting with students, and she communicates very well. I’ve even had students come to me and tell me they’re sad to see her leave also and with all of those people in the building those are the people that are directly impacted by it, teacher’s want to feel supported so that they can do their jobs and so I do think that they felt supported by her,”
Mehlville student’s and staff wish Bruns a smooth and happy transition.
