KOnnect is a club at Mehlville High School designed to help incoming freshman students transition into their future years at Mehlville. It offers a way for students to interact with upperclassmen and get feedback from other Mehlville students.
Applications are open to current sophomore and junior students that are seeking to help during the annual Panther Kickoff, and/or be a mentor in ninth grade Panther Prep classes.
In August, KOnnect offers the Panther Kickoff to all incoming freshman students. This day is managed by the mentor team. KOnnecters will help guide students through the school and help with different activities, while mentors will visit their assigned classrooms. The day is the length of a normal school day and will allow freshman to experience a day at Mehlville before the school year begins.
“KOnnect offers an introduction to Mehlville, and to be able to see upperclass students who can explain their own experiences to freshmen,” sponsor Amy Bush said.
Students who choose to be a Mentor are assigned a Panther Prep class with two to three other mentors. Mentors are in charge of leading lessons and activities while they are in the classroom.
Mentors visit their assigned classroom four to six times each quarter, with most visits being early in the school year in fall. Choosing to be a mentor also gives mentors the opportunity to earn A+ tutoring hours.
By May 1, all sophomore and junior students will receive an email with steps to apply. For any more information you may email Amy Bush at, [email protected].
