FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is an organization/club within the FACS (Family & Consumer Science) Department. It focuses on community service, leadership and career skills. FCCLA provides opportunities for students who want to get more involved in their community and school.
Kayla Campbell, FCCLA sponsor, describes the club as “fun club, great to gain leadership skills, and help the community.”
FCCLA meets once or twice a month. Campbell’s favorite part of the club is events they plan, helping the community, and watching our students take leadership roles.
Every year FCCLA hosts an annual Thanksgiving food drive. Although every year they try to do new different things that everyone will enjoy. This year FCCLA will be doing a Valentine’s day little and loved ones dance in February.
“It is basically whatever the members are interested in, we try to help the community and get out there,” Campbell said.
FCCLA is a club that tries to motivate students to become active leaders and make a difference in their community. It is a great way for students to gain skills that will help them now and in the future. By getting involved in FCCLA, students gain experiences that will also help them grow academically, personally and socially.
Senior Lilyjana Auclair, who’s been in FCCLA for three years, is the president of the club.
“My favorite part about FCCLA is coming up with ideas and actually being able to establish those and make them come to life. It is a fun environment, and we’re also able to bring all of our leadership skills together,” Auclair said.
Students considering joining FCCLA are able to reach out to Kayla Campbell at [email protected], or visit her in room 117.
