If you enjoy gaming at home, why wouldn’t you enjoy gaming at school?
MOSEF (The Missouri Scholastic Esports Federation) has grown tremendously across the state and even country as technology and video games have gone viral. This new generational “sport” gives students the opportunity to use technology in an enjoyable way.
E-sports club at Mehlville High School, sponsored by Joshua Boyd, is a great way for students to play popular games competitively in a welcoming, judge free environment.
Esports members meet every Wednesday after school in their room in the library to play video games of the club’s choice. Members also compete in annual competitions throughout the school year. Players are currently preparing to compete against other schools in Rocket League during the Spring.
At one of their last tournaments, they competed in Overwatch. Freshman member John Holmes said, “It was very hard because a lot of them were at a higher level than us, but we never gave up.”
John describes the club as “unique people who make a respectful community.” He says that they welcome anyone with open arms and highly suggests that if you enjoy gaming, you should give the club a chance.
Students who are interested should contact Joshua Boyd at the email [email protected] or visit room 209.
