Mehlville boys volleyball player Landon DeRoy is planning on putting up a superstar season this spring.
Last year in his junior season he broke the record for most single season blocks at Mehlville. He has other single season records he could break in his final senior season such as: single season kills and single season sets played.
With those accomplishments DeRoy has a chance of cementing himself in Mehlville boys volleyball history. DeRoy is close to all time school leader in kills and top five in aces.
He looks to break his own brother Aron DeRoy’s career blocks record. To make this happen he only needs one more block since he tied the record last season.
“It means a lot because my brother used to hold that record, and breaking it was a good milestone for me to measure my skill and set me up for more blocks this season. It will also make me have one thing to always use to one up my brother,” Landon DeRoy said.
After seeing all the possible records that he could achieve DeRoy has big plans for this season.
“I am gonna break all of them, it will give me a good goal to play harder and try my best for the team,” DeRoy said.
He has also been preparing in the off season for this season.
“I have been playing club volleyball and we practice twice a week. I have been working out as well to bring my best to my final season,” DeRoy said.
The Mehlville varsity volleyball team is poised to make a run at a state title this year with a star-studded roster.
“I am very motivated. I think a state championship would be great for this school, and I think we have a great chance,” DeRoy said.
Mehlville boy’s volleyball team has a good shot at state this year with Landon on their team.
