This month, Mehlville senior Paxson Schnieders committed to play collegiate baseball at Jefferson College (Jeffco), in Hillsboro, Missouri.
Schnieders has played baseball for 15 years, having played for Mehlville for the past three years, being a standout pitcher.
He will be playing First Base/DH, doubling as a pitcher for Jeffco.
Outside of Mehlville, he plays for the Midland Redskins, at the highest level. He and his team travel often to compete in both the summer and fall.
Since it’s the off season for him, Paxson is hard at work behind the scenes, training every day of the week. Outside of his training, you can find Paxson hitting the weight room, five out of the seven days of the week.
“It’s important that I train both sides equally and everyday,” Schnieders said.
He also practices with Coach Rick Strickland, to maximize his hitting potential. Strickland is the hitting coach for the Cubs AAA Team.
Aside from his hitting practice, he also trains at Maximize Pitching Lab twice a week, ensuring he’s the best in his position.
Schnieders looks forward to playing at the next level.
“For me, my goals and aspirations are to take baseball as far and high as physically possible. Juco(Junior College) is a huge option in baseball and I felt that choosing that path can greatly help my ability to grow and move to that next level. With this being said I felt as if Jeffco would be the best option for me,” Schnieders said.
